At the heart of the park, bark hello to California sea lions Butch, Phoenix, and Howie, and relax on the terrace. Three daily feeding demonstrations for the Zoo’s noisiest residents makes the sea lion pool one of our most popular attractions. During summertime, feedings are narrated.
Learn while you play at our three Conservation Quest stations. Migration Playground teaches kids about bird migrations and traveling songbirds while they swing on the monkey bars and zip down the spiral slide. An endangered species climbing-wall and an Invasive Species Station that features the Asian long-horned beetle offer hands-on learning experiences and an introduction to wildlife conservation.
Take a break inside the Discovery Center with your little ones. With its library full of animal-themed storybooks and games, a microscope and fossils, and a crafts station, this activity center is a great place for relaxation and exploration. Budding explorers and scientists can hone their science skills with the same tools that the experts use. Zoo educators are on hand to help with fun projects like pinecone art and habitat diaromas. The Discovery Room may be closed on certain days, due to other programming obligations. Please call ahead Monday through Friday at 718-271-7361, for the upcoming weekend schedule.
